What’s even worse is if the place you buy something from uses one of those awful UPS or Fedex “we’ll handle your bulk USPS mailing for you” services like UPS Mail Innovations, which exist only because it’s that annoying for businesses to bulk ship through USPS. You get a UPS or Fedex tracking number, and the tracking trail always goes cold when it says “transferred to USPS.” It takes even longer than if it had been shipped by USPS in the first place.

But for my own personal shipping of the occasional ebay or other such item, USPS Priority is actually pretty good.

USPS recently delivered a pair of shoes to my house. I tracked it from purchase to arrival. It took 2 days to go from Michigan to Jacksonville, FL. It took 5 days (non-weekend) to get from Jacksonville to Tallahassee, a 2.5 hour drive.

I avoid shopping on eBay specifically because of Smartpost.

My favorite is when it goes from a Fedex or UPS place across the country in a matter of hours, then a day from Louisville to Indianapolis then another day or two to my house. Louisville is fucking half the drive!!! Oh, then FedEx will drop it at my local USPS to deliver the next day even though the route is directly past my house and would save time and money. Yes I know I have how it works wrong but it still angers me.

USPS amazes me.

Kinja'd!!!

That’s three days to go from my post office, collected and taken to a sorting depot, sent to London Heathrow, clear customs, flight out to JFK where it sat for days, five for it to do the last 50 miles.

ECS tuning has done this to me with the free shipping. They shipped it from Ohio to Pennsylvania back to Ohio and then to Michigan. Logistics...

Envelopes are usually fine, it’s parcels that they suck with.

They held onto it for a bit to decide if they were gonna keep them and eat them.
